I Knew Nothing About Animal Nutrition (But Technology Helped Me Learn Anyway)

Get to know our team: Mauro Soto’s Introduction to Animal Nutrition

At Animistic, we believe strong partnerships start with people. Behind every project is a team of passionate individuals with unique stories. In this blog, we explore how AI and agriculture connect through the journey of our Technology Manager, Mauro Soto—showing how technology can make animal nutrition education more accessible.

We’re kicking things off with our Technology Manager, Mauro Soto. Mauro didn’t come from an animal nutrition background, but his story shows how technology and teamwork help us bridge worlds and build solutions that truly make nutrition accessible.

My dream was always to work for an American company. Thanks to my parents, who put me in a bilingual school, I learned English early and eventually started working in a local call center. That job gave me not only professional experience but also the chance to practice English every day.

In the beginning, my accent and pronunciation made it hard for people to understand me. But with time, practice, and persistence, I improved. One day, a friend told me about an open position for a Technology Manager with The Sunswine Group. Honestly, I didn’t believe it at first—I even thought maybe my friend’s account had been hacked because it seemed too good to be true. But it was real. I was offered the position and, just like that, my dream became reality.

Entering a New World – AI and Agriculture

When I started, I quickly realized that working in animal nutrition came with a whole new language. Words like swine, poultry, feedstuff evaluation, and regulatory support were everywhere. I was a systems engineer, not an animal nutritionist, so I often found myself lost in the jargon.

At first, I didn’t want to keep asking my boss about every term I didn’t understand. Instead, I turned to ChatGPT. If I was told to “organize the Verax thing” or that “nutritionist” wasn’t the right word, I would ask AI to explain what that meant in context. This helped me learn quickly while still keeping up with the pace of work.

Technology as My Learning Partner

When I built Animistic’s website, I often used ChatGPT to make sure the technical terms on our services page made sense. As a systems engineer, I didn’t know exactly what went into “Regulatory Support” or “Field Support,” but AI helped me understand enough to build professional content that my boss could then refine.

This experience showed me how powerful technology can be—not just for building websites or systems, but for bridging animal nutrition AI, and agriculture. AI became my partner in understanding an industry that was completely new to me.

Growing with Animistic

One year later, I’m still learning every day. My boss encouraged me to take Animistic’s own Swine Lingo course, and now at least I know the difference between a piglet and a pig—or a pig board! With the upcoming Poultry Lingo course, I’ll be learning terms like hatchery, broilers, and breeders right alongside the rest of the team.

The best part is that I get to help upload and manage the very courses that are teaching me. It’s a reminder that Animistic doesn’t just talk about education and accessibility—we live it.

Why This Matters for Our Partners

If someone like me—who started out knowing nothing about animal nutrition—can learn and grow in this field with the right tools and support, then so can our clients and partners.

At Animistic, we combine human expertise with technology to make animal nutrition, AI and agriculture more accessible and approachable. Whether it’s through AI, digital learning platforms, or customized websites, our goal is to create solutions that help our partners thrive.
